Daylight Stupid Time

I really hate changing the clocks. What do we really gain out of it? Sure it is light out later in the evening, but now I go to work in the dark again. why is that better? I have to worry about changing the clocks before I go to bed, make sure I don't somehow screw up the alarm, and basically I just don't sleep well due to fear of over sleeping. Why can't we leave the clocks alone? Please!

Speaking of clocks, I realized our old clock radio is pretty useless now. The clock was a gift off of our wedding registry about 14 years ago, so it has lived a long life. See, it works fine, it still keeps time, but I found out last night I can't change the time. The little button I have to push to allow you to change then time doesn't work. So, instead, I set the alarm an hour earlier. That made the early morning hurt even more. We do have a new clock radio standing by, but I didn't want to mess with it last night. It is one of those new-fangled ones with an iPod dock, and more small buttons. I need to practice slapping it into snooze mode a few times before I'm ready to put into service full-time. I don't want to turn it off in my sleep on accident since I have to bring donuts to work if I am late. I know, it's a stupid unwritten rule. I mean, come on, you want me to be even later by stopping and getting donuts? Dumb!

So, yeah, I might be a little cranky today due to losing the hour sleep. Does it show? It was sad last night. We ate dinner kind of late, and I kept saying, "I need to go to bed soon, it's almost 8 o'clock," or whatever time it was plus an hour. I kind of felt like I lived on one of the coasts where prime time TV is an hour later than it is here. How do you people handle that? I couldn't imaging having prime time end at 11pm. That is way too late. Of course, in these TiVo times it doesn't matter too much. I could just record everything and watch it a day later at a more reasonable time. Or, watch it at work, if I had a Slingbox.

Okay, back to work. Did you miss the hour you lost last night?

I blame former President Bush for this. He changed when we change the time and it's totally messed me up. I'm lucky to know what day it is normally. Now I have to wonder what time it is really. /sigh

I was up when my cable company changed the time. Talk about a long night.

I hate DST. It's pretty pointless anyway.

We don't participate in that nonsense in Hawaii, which is fine, but I do miss it being light until 9:00 at night sometimes. It is tricky trying to do business with people on the east coast though. Whatever you need to get done, you need to get it done by 11:00AM or you're not going to get it done.

cookie: It's always fun to watch the clock go backwards. It's like being in a time machine. :)

DC: Yes, it is pointless. Unless you are farmer, maybe. :)

Dreamybee: What is it, like a 6 hour difference for you and the east coast. I remember when we went to Hawaii a while back, we were in bed by 10pm and up before 7am. We had a hard time adjusting. But it was still fun.

I'm not thrilled about getting up in the dark again either. I was thrown off all day yesterday. I'm not sure why we have to mess around with this stuff - I think Hawaii has the right idea.

Since we pretty much watch all of our TV off the DVR now, I don't worry too much about the prime-time hours, but having them earlier was one of the things I really liked when I lived on Central time. A 9 PM show is so much more manageable than a 10 PM one for me. Without the DVR, there are shows I'd never have even tried out just because I can't stay awake for them!

Florinda: You guys have it even worse, I think. The east coasters can stroll into work late and it won't matter. Anyone they need to contact is probably on a later time zone anyway. Well, except for other countries, but you know what I mean. :)
