Weekend Assignment #233: (Virtual) New Toys

This weekend assignment should be right up my alley. Though I may not live up to my potential. Karen asks:

Weekend Assignment #233: The online world is constantly evolving, to the point where I'm surprised I'm not reading about Web 3.0 by now. Google's service Blogger is just one example of an online resource that's been rolling out new features and gadgets recently. Are there any new online toys, gadgets, widgets or gizmos that you've found particularly useful or entertaining?

I'm still trying to figure out wat Web 2.0 is; I may be too new to some of the online stuff. Don't get me wrong, I like technology. I always want new gadgets when they come out. Heck, if I had the money my house would be stocked with all the latest cool gadgets. TV's, Blu-Ray, state of the art sound systems, robots to get me my beer. You get the picture.

But that's not what we are talking about here, now is it? Okay, online things. Hmm, I do play around on Twitter, though I am mostly a follower. (That sounds so stalker-ish, I know). I have a Last.fm account now, though I got that for my Ipod Touch and it doesn't seem to be working after the last software update. I have a Flickr account that I will post pictures on occasionally. That is about all that is exciting. The rest of the stuff I have is pretty standard, Google Reader, and...um, e-mail.

What I do think is neat, that may not count, is the new App Store at iTunes. I have a few apps that make make my iPod a little more fun. I have Twitterific for twitter, Last.fm (that I mentioned), Pandora radio, Apple Remote to control my iTunes from anwhere in the house...I could go on for a while. The newest, and geekiest, one that I have is LED football. Remember the old Mattel Electronic Football game from the late 70's with the little blinking LED's that were supposed to be football players? Yes, it is that game on the iPod. Totally retro, totally fun, totally geeky. Why else would I get it?

Extra Credit: Are there any new online features, gadgets, etc. that you've been disappointed with?

I downloaded Google Chrome and found it, well, boring. I didn't see any reason why I should switch right now. Though, that could change in the future,

So, what have you tried out lately?

My husband is enjoying that Apps Store a lot too. It seems like he's getting new treats for his iPod Touch there every week. Y'all should compare notes on what you like.

I just have email. I really am not a big fan of the gadgets and gizmos unless I need them. Which I rarely do.

Florinda: it is kind of like that. I try to limit my time searching on the store, there are too many things to choose. It's east to spend a lot of money.

Karen: thanks for stalking me! :)

DC: That's probably a good thing. You won't waste time like I do.
