This is how you make cooking eggs seem creepy

Okay, maybe that is an exaggeration. But, watch the video first. Watch how the eggs slowly slip out of the top of the machine. Then we'll talk.

Okay, does it not remind you of some creepy X-Files episode where the stuff slowly comes to life and take over your brain or something?

Beyond that, this is one of those classic making-whatever-is-too-hard-so-use-this-dumb-gadget commercial. Yes, if you flip your eggs over from about two feet off the pan the yolks will break. But, if you are not a complete moron, you won't do that. Also, that pan is obviously a non-stick pan, why are the eggs sticking? Are they even trying? I don't think so.

With the way this cooks the only kind of eggs you can make are essentially hard-boiled or omelets, so I don't know why they compare it to an over-easy egg. Besides that, I imagine the outside of this thing will get pretty messy, right? Does the outside clean well?

I'm sure you can make some tasty omelet like things in here, just add some cheese and bacon, (pre-cooked I assume since I don't this will fully cook the bacon) and you get a tiny omelet. It looks like two eggs is about the max this thing will hold, so I hope that is all you make in your omelet.

I think the basic idea isn't really bad here. I think I'm just getting tired of the commercials that make everybody look like complete idiots. You have an idea on how to make eggs easier? That's great. Show me what it does and why it's a good idea. Maybe then people will not assume your product is some crappy gimmick.

I think I've been watching too much Shark Tank.

Is that a razor in your pocket or are you glad to see me

This was my morning:

I got up a little late, hitting snooze and extra time was important, and jumped into the shower. I was still okay on time, but I needed to shave as I had skipped doing so for the last three days. I'm lazy, what can I say.

So, I go to shave. However my razor is not in the downstairs bathroom like it usual. Then I remembered I used it upstairs on Sunday since we were having family over and Jenn wanted me to keep that bathroom clean.  I went quietly back upstairs to check the vanity. It wasn't there. So I went back downstairs to look again. Nope. Now I'm starting to get behind schedule. I realize it has to be upstairs so I sneak back up to check again. This time I find it in the vanity. I swear it wasn't there the first time!

I do a quick shave and switch off the razor. Then off and on again. Again. And again. The fucking thing won't turn off! Now I'm trying to figure out what to do. I can't leave it running in the bathroom. The dogs will probably freak out and start barking at it and wake everyone up. I ended up putting it on the floor wrapped in a towel so I can finish getting my stuff together. It's still audible since the house completely quiet. Dammit!

Once I finish getting all my stuff together I decide I can't leave it in the bathroom so I take the stupid thing wrapped in a towel to my car. Luckily no neighbors were out there. As I drive to work I think of what to do with the thing. It's obviously no good anymore and I might as well get rid of it. At first I think I can stop off somewhere on the way and drop it into a dumpster behind a building. But then I decide that is no good. I'm afraid this thing is going to start on fire like all those battery-operated things you read about. With my luck I'd drop it into a dumpster, it starts on fire and I'm recorded dropping it in there. Next thing I know the footage will be on the news with the anchor pleading for information on the man who dropped a incendiary device in the garbage. So the dumpster idea was out.

Next thought: What about dropping it in the garbage at McDonald's on the way? I strike that idea for the same reason. I'll be known as the Big Mac attacker, or something. So I keep driving to work. I figure I'll leave it in my car and hope for the best. If it starts on fire I figure I have insurance so I'll be okay. Maybe.

By the way, it was running all this time. Breaking my concentration with it's incessant buzzing. Like the Tell Tale Razor. Once I make my last turn before I arriving to work it coughs up it's last remaining charge, I pull into work, get out of the car and hope for the best. I was pretty sure my car wouldn't be a smoldering heap of metal when I was done, but I wasn't positive.

By the way, I have had this razor for ages. It's a Braun that is at least ten years old if not older. All I ever had to do was change the foil once. I will miss it, even if it did make this morning crazy.

Anyway, how was your morning?

I have a few letters Syfy can use

As you may have heard, the SciFi channel has changed it's name to SyFy in order to change it's geeky image. You can read about it here.

Like most people, I think it is kind of dumb. It's fine to change your name to change your image, look at Prince, he does it every 10 years or so. Puff Daddy, or whatever his name is now, has changed his about 6 times in the last decade. So, go ahead, change away. But, (you knew there was going to be a but, right?) I think Syfy is a little goofy. I came up with some better letters. What about, WTF? I'm serious. Just follow along.

First of all, everyone is talking about the name change. Basically, from what I have read, most of them boil down to WTF? Wouldn't it be cool if that is what they changed their name to. It would be genius!

Also, their biggest, and best reviewed show, Battelstar Galactica, is ending this week. You know when a show like that has it's finale, not everybody is going to be happy. Look at The Sopranos. Since many people are going to be saying WTF? when the show ends, wouldn't it be great if that is what they had changed their name to on the same week?

Let's not forget that a new BSG related show is coming out next year called Caprica. They are basically letting us know already that it is not going to be anything like BSG, and be more like a soap opera. Again, a perfect time to say WTF? At least it looks like you know what the people are going to be thinking.

Another point, look at some of their programming. For the most part, most of the shows make you say, WTF? anyway. Some for good reason, X-files, Stargate, BSG, Eureka; and some for less good reasons; Mansquito anyone? Not to mention on Tuesdays all of a sudden wrestling comes on. Really? WTF? That never made sense to me anyway. Now, if it was cyborg wrestling, that would be cool!

I know you may be thinking to yourself, how would they get that name changed approved by the Big Cheeses at Universal or the FCC. Well, most of those people are so out of touch you could tell them that WTF? stands for anything. They are all clever people over at Syfy, I'm sure they could have come up with something. Heck, they could have gone all BSG on them and said it stood for What the Frak? It's not like any of them know what Frak means. I mean how else do you get the KFC Frak Pack approved as a tie-in? (They did change the name of that promotion by the way. I'm sure someone's kid let them know what it means).

So, come on SciFi channel, take a chance. As Joel Goodsen said, sometimes you just have to say WTF?
